Sophisticated color vs ordinary color

You may be surprised to learn that some of the most beautiful paint colors are not offered by almost every paint manufacturer in North America. This is because a normal paint manufacturer must hire a printing company to make the paper color chips that you see as sample colors in the paint store. The printing company uses inks or dyes and have to match the actual paint colors you get in the store. If the paint manufacturer creates a paint color using too many different colorants (more than 3 or 4), the printing company cannot match the paper chips close enough to the paint color to look proper in all light sources.

The addition of more than 3 or 4 colorants to make a paint color creates color complexity or as the designers phrase it, “sophisticated colors”. Our C2 brand of paint has gotten around this problem of making our color chips that are considered sophisticated, or complex colors by using the actual C2 paint to make our color chips and other color tools. This way we may add as many colorants as needed to make the rich, unusual paint colors in C2’s color pallet without having the color chip problems encountered by the big paint manufacturers. Another difference between C2 paint colors and ordinary North American paint colors is because the colorants used in C2 paints are from Finland, and are very different from other colorant systems used in the U.S.
